Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area

Mr. Karpíšek will give insight in upcoming quality and quality assurance issues in the European Higher Education Area. He will guide us briefly through the history, starting with the Bologna process and the role of the European Standards and Guidelines 2015 (ESG), up to the Paris communiqué in May 2018 and new initiatives. He will illustrate this with examples of concrete projects for international cooperation like PHExcel (project to develop a framework for excellence in professional higher education and tools for benchmarking, peer support and review possibilities) and EQUIP (supporting and promoting a consistent, efficient and innovative embedding of the ESG 2015 at grass-root level). Seated in Brussels, EURASHE is one of the founding fathers of the European Quality Assurance Forum (EQAF). Each year EQAF provides a platform for discussion, professional development and exchange of experiences among the main stakeholders in QA: management and staff m! embers re sponsible for QA in higher education institutions, students, QA agency staff and researchers working on higher education or the QA field.

International accreditation in the context of the strategy of the Hotelschool The Hague

Ms. Alarcon will share The Hotelschool The Hague’s experience on what a multiple accreditation entails, how the certification trajectory has been managed and how they have accomplished all objectives. On behalf of the association of hotelschools in The Netherlands, the NVAO has started a project to combine the Dutch accreditation with the THE-ICE accreditation (International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education). In the spring of 2018 the Hotelschool The Hague went through a successful visitation by the NVAO and this prestigious partner. Next to this they successfully receive the Certificate for Quality in Internationalization (CeQuInt) led by the European Consortium for Accreditation (ECA).

Recent experience with Distinctive Feature Internationalization and international accreditation

Mr. Ben Schulte will share the experience of Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences with the accreditation trajectory for the distinctive quality feature internationalization by NVAO conform CeQulnt/ECA. The assessment of this distinct feature will take place during the site visit for the accreditation of three programmes (two masters and one bachelor) in the last week of January. Simultaneously the two master programmes are also assessed for a joint accreditation conform the standards of EADI, an Europe-wide network of institutes, researchers and students of various disciplines in the field of development studies. He will tell us whether this was successful.
